Made to fit
The pack’s harness micro adjusts to accommodate torsos small and tall for a balanced fit on the most uneven terrain.

How do I determine which size Skala™ Hiking Pack to get?
There are several things to consider when choosing the right backpack, starting with your trip length. Will it be a day-long excursion, weekend backpacking trip, or a multi-week adventure? This question will help determine how much gear you’ll need to carry. If your trip is short and your gear is minimal, a smaller pack may work. If you’re going on a longer trek and want to bring more gear, bulkier and heavier items, or need a dedicated compartment for a sleeping bag, you should opt for a larger pack as this will require additional space. Next, think about the season and the weather conditions. In the summer, or in warmer climates, you can pack less, while autumn and winter trips will call for extra layers and additional gear. Finally, consider your packing style. If you’re comfortable with fewer items, a smaller pack is ideal. If you prefer bringing extra comforts from home and don’t mind the added weight, go for the larger pack. For more detailed recommendations, check out our buying guide.
How do I adjust the harness on the Skala™ Hiking Pack?
To adjust the harness for the best fit and most comfortable carry, start by setting the torso length using the adjustable harness system. Next, tighten the hip belt so it sits snugly on your hip bones, then adjust the shoulder straps to bring the pack closer to your back. Finally, adjust the load lifters and the sternum strap for optimal balance and stability. For more detailed step-by-step instructions, visit our Fitting & Sizing Guide.
Does the Skala™ Hiking Pack’s storage capacity vary by harness size?
No, the storage capacity does not change with the different harness sizes of the Skala™ Hiking Pack. The harness size only affects how the bag fits your body, not how much gear it holds. For example, if you choose a size Small in a 50 L pack and your friend chooses a size Large in the same 50 L pack, both packs will have the same 50 L capacity, they will just be adjusted differently for each individual fit.
What materials are the Skala™ Hiking Pack made from?
420 HD Nylon: The exterior of the pack has a durable carbonate coating for superior weather resistance in a lightweight build.
210D Nylon Birdseye Dobby: High-abrasion zones are reinforced with ultra-strong UHMWPE fibers for enhanced durability without added weight.
90D x 300D Nylon/Poly/Spandex: Exterior pockets have a premium 4-way stretch with excellent recovery and a streamlined look.
Urethane Foam & Spacer Mesh: The back panel and harness are padded and breathable for superior comfort and ventilation.
YKK® Aquaguard® No. 10 Zippers: Large gauge zippers with a weather-resistant nylon coating give you strong closure you can trust.
What size YETI® Bottles fit in the side pockets of the Skala™ Hiking Pack?
The side pockets of the Skala™ Hiking Pack can fit up to a 34 oz Yonder® Water Bottle. If you prefer insulated drinkware, it also accommodates the 36 oz Rambler® Water Bottle.
What hydration reservoirs are compatible with the Skala™ Hiking Pack?
Most hydration reservoirs, up to a 3L capacity, should be compatible with the Skala™ Hiking Pack.
What are some cleaning tips and instructions for the Skala™ Hiking Pack?
For the best clean, we recommend wiping it down with a wet cloth. That being said, these packs were made to take a beating and wear those scars proudly, so feel free to keep that patina going as it will not affect the functionality or durability of the pack.
Is the Skala™ Hiking Pack waterproof or water resistant?
The Skala™ Hiking Pack is water resistant. There are components of the pack that are waterproof, but the pack as a whole is not completely waterproof.
Is the Skala™ Hiking Pack unisex or are there different fits for men and women?
Each Skala™ Hiking Pack has a different fit for men and women. However, since the men’s size has a more standardised harness, we recommended it as our unisex offering.
How is the women’s size Skala™ Hiking Pack pack specifically made for them?
We designed the women’s Skala™ Hiking Pack based on extensive research and fit studies to ensure it accurately accommodates the female form rather than being a scaled-down version of a men’s pack. The biggest improvement comes in the shoulder harness—we updated the curvature, arc, and length to better match women’s torsos for optimal comfort and stability. In addition, the waist belt comes in two sizes, allowing for a more personalised fit across a wide range of body types. These changes make the pack significantly more ergonomic and supportive.
Is the Skala™ Hiking Pack good for multi-day hikes or just day trips?
The Skala™ 50 L Multi-Day Pack is great for multi-day and multi-week hikes whereas the Skala™ 32 L and 40 L Hiking Packs are better suited for day-long excursions and shorter trips.
How to fit your pack
Step 1: Loosen Up
Release the load lifters and shoulder straps until the pack hangs loose.
Step 2: Fit your waist
Adjust the waist belt around your hips until is comfortable snug
Step 3: Find your Yoke Adjuster
Take off the pack. Pull the webbing loop between the yoke and the pack to pull out the adjuster.
Step 4: Break the seal
Slide the adjuster between the yoke and the bag to break the hook and loop seal.
Step 5: Fit your torso
Slide the yoke up or down to align the seam between the shoulder strap and yoke body with your shoulder blade. Pull the yoke adjuster out to re-engage the hook and loop seal..
Step 6: Put the yoke Adjuster back
Return the yoke adjuster to the pocket it came from. It doubles as the upper framing of the pack.
